I just recently started selling Jamberry Nails nail shields. They are AMAZING!

All of my photos are of "real" customers, not models! These nail shields are vinyl shields that are applied with heat and pressure. (Blow dryer or small heater) They last on fingers for up to 2 weeks and toes for 5-6 weeks! They have a shiny protective coating so they won't scuff or chip at all!

There are over 165 different styles that can be mixed and matched! They are MADE IN THE USA!!!!!

As long as they are removed as directed, they will NOT damage your nails!!!

There are NO harsh chemicals at all and are totally safe for kids to wear or for moms with babies!

Interested??? Feel free to contact me with any questions... www.melaniebyrd.jamberrynails.net

You can buy them online...they are on sale through the summer - Buy 3 Get 1 Free!

Fringy Scarf Photo Shoot With Some Beautiful Little Models!

Today was a lot of fun. A friend of mine offered to take some really nice photos for my Etsy site. Her daughter and another friend's daughter were my little models. They did such a great job and the photos turned out so cute!

My scarves made really cute Christmas or Birthday gifts and can be purchased in my Etsy Shop here. I also have a large variety of adult sized scarves in the shop as well. I love doing custom orders, so if you're interested in something specific, let me know!

You've heard of an Easter egg hunt, but not a birthday present hunt!

My son's 5th birthday was just last week and he came up with a great idea. I always hate wrapping presents and wasting the wrapping paper!

This is what he told me, "You've heard of an Easter egg hunt, but not a birthday present hunt!"

What a great idea...I love having a reason to be lazy...

My mom and I hid his presents all over the house and he ran around finding them. He had way more fun hunting for them than he would have unwrapping them! Give it a try!

His favorite present was from Grandma and she was so nice to buy his big brother one too!

Henderson Food Revolution - School Food Garden

So, I have been a total blog slacker lately!

One of my excuses is that I'm working on getting a part time job making bags for a local Las Vegas bag designer. If it all works out, I will be trying to make about 50 bags per week! They are cut and pinned and ready to serge. That's the problem. I need a serger and am on a mission to get a good deal!

Another excuse is that I have been trying to start a local Food Revolution. I have been really concerned about the food that is served at my son's school. It is just as bad as what Jamie Oliver saw in Los Angeles on his Food Revolution show. I found out that it is possible to start a local Food Revolution facebook page for your own town!

So, that's what I did. I have 32 followers so far, so if you want to support us, you can like the page at Henderson Food Revolution.

If you are wanting to help do something for the cause, please click here to sign the petition to help ban sugary milk in schools! Check out Jamie's Facebook page here.

My goal is to get as many Henderson, NV parents who care about our children's nutrition at school together and try to get a few simple changes made. One of my friends and I are planning on starting a school garden in the fall and we have the support of the school's Principal. What a great start!

I will post our progress as the school year gets closer. If anyone has been part of a school/community garden and has any tips, please send them my way!

Couture Community Challenge - Las Vegas Charity Fashion Show

This weekend I was lucky enough to attend a local Fashion Show here in Las Vegas benefiting the Easter Seals

Susan Toshes-Deneau of Altered Nation Designs has been putting together these shows, challenging local designers to make unique dresses out of candies, wrappers, gift wrap, etc. The theme of this show was Easter. There will be a 4th of July show coming up as well as a couple of other summer events. I am looking forward to the Halloween event and hope to be able to participate as a designer!

We have some super talented designers in this town! What do you think?

Please visit the Facebook page for Couture Community Challenge to see past events and more information.

Thank you Bryan Adams of Flash Adams Photography for lending me his fantastic photos of the event!

My Son's First Video: Panic! At The Disco Music Video "The Ballad of Mona Lisa"

Here's a link to the P!ATD facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/panicatthedisco

The video is here, as requested: The Ballad of Mona Lisa

Well, MTV.com aired the video tonight. Darn it! They cut almost all of the kid takes. Dylan was supposed to originally do the main part until he got too scared. I didn't even see him in the crowd at all. :(  The girl that ended up doing his part did a great job though! It was a great experience and he says that he wants to try it again sometime, just not for a video with a dead body in it!

Here are the pics from that day:

Dylan with the girls before we started

They had to do 3 hours of set school

The band is in the background getting lunch. Mmmm...that was the best free lunch ever!

These were size 6 woman's capri pants. Those girls did wonders to make them look good on a 6 yr old boy!

The Director checking out Dylan's costume

He was getting super excited!

Makeup time

Then he came out and hung out with Brendon's (the main singer) hottie girlfriend Sarah. She was so nice to him!

After he got scared, he came out to watch the screen.

Really cool set

The bonus was that when we were sitting in the car, Lee DeWyze (American Idol winner) parked next to us. Dylan was really excited! He was a really nice guy and was taking pictures with everyone. We missed out because Dylan was in makeup that whole time!!!

My son was part of the newest P!ATD Music Video Shoot. The song is called The Ballad of Mona Lisa. I can't wait to see if he made the cut. He was only 6 yrs old and got scared. It's a dark, steampunkish style and included some scary content for him. It is really exciting though! Wish us luck!

I will add a picture of him at the shoot after it airs. I'm not supposed to until then!

It will air on MTV.com at 12pm (I'm guessing Eastern Time) and then on MTV at 7:56pm!

Yes, this is where I learned of Steampunk and got inspired to make the earrings on an earlier post...Steampunk Earrings

10 lbs needs to go!!!

Ok, so I have decided to actually try to not be such a pig! I love food way too much.

Last year, I was able to lose 15 lbs by counting calories at caloriecount.about.com. Of course I have gained about 7 lbs back by now, just because I have been lazy and stopped caring. This is going to stop now!

On Calorie Count, you can log all the food you eat and it helps to understand how many calories are in those foods. I know, counting calories doesn't sound like fun, but I found that it really helped my awareness of knowing what foods that I really should avoid. I recommend this to anyone who is looking to lose a few lbs!

Anyone want to try this with me?

Day 1...here I go!
